SELF DENIED

Self Denied is the ultimate of Christain rock. The style of music is a variety. Ranging mostly along the hard rock/alternative/thrash they also play slow acustical ballads. They are a 4 member band with their whole heart set on the Lord. Self Denied's name is based off of Matthew 16:24 "Then Jesus said to His disciples, 'If anyone would come after me, he must first deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.'" So seeing as that we have God on our side we have nothing to worry about.
Self Denied has been a 3-piece band since the spring of 1998 and have just added a new guitarist in the spring of 2000. They are a band based out of Guymon, Oklahoma, and even though they live in the middle of nowhere it's ok because as mentioned before, they have God on their side.
Self Denied has released one demo thus far and are hoping to set down and record a full record when the time and opportunity presents itself.
Being from a small town does not mean the band has not had the opportunity to play before the public. Within the past two years they have played several shows with other bands, won the school's talent show, opened up "Rocktoberfest" in the fall of 1999, played at the after-baccalaureate graduation partys, and had their demo played over the radio since it was recorded in February of 2000.


Self Denied consists of 4 best friends as well as talented musicians.


Josh Smith---lead guitar/singer/songwriter. Just for future reference ladies, Josh is a stud. Get on his good side and you'll probably get a killer song written for you. Josh will be a senior in high school in the 00-01 year.


Matt Fowler---drums/songwriter. Matt is also a stud and curently single ladies! It's just that "chicks hate him". No one has quite figured that one out yet? Matt will be a sophmore in college attending Destiny College in the 00-01 year and he isn't a "nazi".


Steven Watkins---bass/songwriter. Steven usted to be a stud but he currently has a 2 1/2 year girlfriend so he has now lost his status of "pimp". Steven will be attending Southern Nazarene University in the 00-01 year as a freshman, and yes, he is a Nazarene.


Joe Reed---guitar. Last but not least Joe is the newly added member as of the spring of 2000. "joedogg" as he is most often referred to is "kind of" a stud. It's just that he is scared of girls. So any of you ladies out there that LIKE to make the first move, then this is your chance. Joe is also going to Southern Nazarene University as a freshman in the year of 00-01, and along with Matt he refuses to be a "nazi".
